Wait, what?

As long as I can remember, any visions of my wedding included the beach, a beautiful sunset, a steel drum band, and dancing in the sand well into the night.

Over the years, I'd shared this vision with my parents many times. My Father grew up in St. Thomas, and my family still lives there part time, so it just seemed like an amazingly easy choice to have a wedding where I'd spent a significant amount of my childhood and held meaning to my Father's family. Plus, it's gorgeous!

However, things change all too quickly. I wasn't even dating anyone when my Mom started making a case for having a wedding on the East Coast to accomodate the elder members of our family. Fast forward a few years, and here we are, planning a wedding at a historic East Coast mansion with a band dressed in tuxedos and a formal dinner - a FAR cry from my original vision. And know what the craziest part is? What we're planning could not me more "us"! Who'd have thought?

Did your wedding plans evolve into something totally different from what you'd imagined? How so?
