A Second Attempt at Wedding Colors

So, there I was. My vision of a black and white wedding wasn't quite coming together, and the addition of gold wasn't the perfect solution I'd imagined. Ugh. You'd think it wouldn't be a big deal, but I was bound and determined to find something with an elegance and simplicity that had nothing to do with what I considered a fall cliche.

I searched and searched, and came across this little photo:

And BAM! it was like a light switch flipped! (Ok, probably overly dramatic, but I was thrilled). Purple! Elegant, rich, beautiful and slightly unexpected for fall. And Mr. Seashell is a total purple guy. He looks stellar in his purple dress shirts and we met at Northwestern - purple! I've always been a purple girl. Of note, I had a "purple party" when I turned four. All my gifts were wrapped in purple, all the decorations were purple and everyone wore purple. Purple perfection!

Now, of course, I didn't want to go overboard with purple insanity. But the vision was starting to come together: ivory, gold, and touches of purple.

I asked Mr. Seashell his thoughts, and he thought it sounded great. I told Mama Seashell and she was totally thrilled. In fact, I think it was more like, "Oh, thank god you came to your senses!"

How did you decide on your wedding colors? Was it a process or an easy choice?
